Undergrad Does Raising My Arm Change the Center of Mass?
Well this isn't a question of walking or the normal force from the ground. Okay let us suppose that instead of in Earth I am in deep space and I lift my arm. Then in this case what is the external force which shift my center of mass.- Physics guy

Undergrad Does Raising My Arm Change the Center of Mass?
Let me imagine myself standing on the Earth with my arm in the resting position perpendicular to the ground. Now if I decide to raise my right arm by 90 degrees, now that it is parallel to the ground. I have shifted my center of mass in this process. But the center of mass will not accelerate...- Physics guy

Undergrad Friction/heat kinetic energy - reactive force
First of all before giving my opinion you seem to be a heck lot confused with the concept of force and energy. Maybe because you think a little too much about it. Force and energy are concepts which help us understand and study the motion around us. They are compatible with each other but each...- Physics guy

Undergrad Centripetal acceleration problem (box sitting on a table)
Let me imagine a box placed on a table. It has got no acceleration. If I were a person who trusted Newton's laws then I would argue that the net force on the box should be zero. Now in another situation I am an observer outside the Earth and I see that the box is rotating along with the earth...- Physics guy

Chemistry Which Structural Isomer Has the Highest Boiling Point?
We are not talking bout the area of a single atom, it does not concern us here. We are trying to identify which of the isomers has larger area to have contact with another molecule. This will cause attraction due to wander walls force. Note that there are also other factors that come into play...- Physics guy

High School Why is fire colored orange and sometimes blue?
Yes true, maybe because our eyes are more sensitive to colours of longer wavelength we see yellow colour to be more luminous- Physics guy

High School Why is fire colored orange and sometimes blue?
Welcome to PF, it is an interesting question. You might have probably seen fire in only blue or orange-yellow color. This is because the most common sources we use are carbon based compounds like kerosene and methane, which give us these colors. In fact the color of the flame depends on which...- Physics guy

Undergrad Why Does Friction Provide Centripetal Acceleration in Circular Motion?
You seem to be confused that friction is a reaction force to the force you apply to move any object. In fact it is not. It is a force that occurs due to electromagnetic interaction between the 2 surfaces in relative motion. In fact if you were to take an object to outer space and push it, it is...- Physics guy

Undergrad How can artificial gravity be created for space exploration?
But for centripetal acceleration a simple contact force would suffice? But our task is the maintain the tangential velocity- Physics guy
