Undergrad Why is Far-UV spectrum unobservable
Hi couldn't find a similar thread so thought i'd make one. I keep seeing around the web that the far-UV spectrum is unobservable (context is looking at the spectra of AGN) but no-one seems to explain why. I think that its something to do with hydrogen strongly absorbs at these wavelengths...- PianoDentist

Graduate Schrodinger Equation : Infinite Square Well
dont worry I got it. well I did it for the sin parts anyway. I am guessing doing it for the cos solutions gives same result- PianoDentist

Graduate Schrodinger Equation : Infinite Square Well
Hello, I am stuck on exactly the same problem so I thought rather than make a whole new thread Id ask here. I understand (I think) the sines and cosines for different eigenfunctions with different n values...but I am not sure how to get the 1/SQRT (a) factor. Is this the normalisation factor...- PianoDentist

Calculating 3D Fourier Transform for (1,2,3)
Hi, just got set a 3d Fourier transform to solve but I've never seen one before and can't find any examples online. once the integral is set up I should be fine but I'm not sure how to set it up; What is Fourier transfrom (f(k)) of following 3d function for k=(kx, ky, kz)=(1,2,3) for...- PianoDentist

Why does op-amps gain decrease at high frequency
Ive read on loads on places that tell me this but don't explain why. They explain the closed loop gain drops off because the open loop gain in their 'real' equations is no longer infinite/very high so the assumpstions that lead to ideal equations fail. but nowhere can I find an explanation...- PianoDentist

Graduate Quantum foam and discreteness of spactime for an idiot
thanks, I'll have a look at the links later. I'd been reading some book which said it may be possible for some advanced civilisation to use inflation to increase the size of these mini-wormholes. sounded like bollocks to me but I thought I'd discuss it if there was space. I nearly did my...- PianoDentist

Graduate Quantum foam and discreteness of spactime for an idiot
Hello, Im doing an essay on time travel, and as of yet have done nowhere near enough mathematical stuff to be able to grasp the mathematics behind these concepts. but anyway I was looking at wormholes and I think I am right in that in quantum foam you get loads of little wormholes among...- PianoDentist
