Projectile motion - velocity and distance
I'm not exactly sure how to use symbols, but my work is as follows. First I split the vector into the x and y components. I got the vector component x to be 51.961523423 and the vector y component to be 30. The I used the formula: final velocity squared equals initial velocity squared plus 2...- piknless

Projectile motion - velocity and distance
Projectile motion -- velocity and distance Homework Statement A projectile is launched with an initial speed of 60 m/s at an angle of 30 degrees above the horizontal. The projectile lands on a hillside 4 seconds later. Neglect air friction. What is the projectile's velocity at the...- piknless

How High Was the Object Dropped in This Free Fall Problem?
Homework Statement A certain object is falling in free fall down a building. The object falls the last 30 meters in 1.5 seconds. What was the total height it was dropped at. Homework Equations s=(1/2)(g)t^2 The Attempt at a Solution I've tried setting the total height to x+30...- piknless

Build a Cyclotron - Step-by-Step Guide for DIYers
Thank you all for your considerations. I will continue to study hard, and one day I will build a cyclotron. Though it probably won't be in the near future.- piknless

How Do You Solve cos(2tan-1(1/7))?
starting from where you left off, cos(tan-1 (7/24)) draw a triangle with angle tan inverse 7/24. The tangent of that angle would be 7/24. by using pythagorean theorem we can deduce the last side is 25. So the cosine of the inverse tangent of (7/24) is equivalent to 24/25.- piknless

How Do You Solve cos(2tan-1(1/7))?
here is a solution I thought of on the whim. Using the double angle property, cos(2tan-1(1/7)) turns into cos(2x) where x equals tans-1 (1/7), which is ((cos^2)tan-1(1/7))-((sin^2)tan-1(1/7)). now you know that the tangent of the inverse tangent of 1/7 equals 1/7. so draw a triangle with angle...- piknless

Build a Cyclotron - Step-by-Step Guide for DIYers
I want to build a cyclotron. Not necessarily a big one, and just for fun. I have a crude blueprint from a wikipedia article, but seeing as I don't know where to begin, could someone help me break it down? here is a link of the one I want to make...- piknless

Is There a Job in Theoretical Astrophysics?
Hello, I am new here. I had a question regarding jobs and physics. I read the book Death by Black Hole by Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and I was highly intrigued at the topics mentioned, enough to proselytize me into wanting to be a physicist in the field of Astrophysics. That was about a year ago. I...- piknless

High School Calculating Vertices & Edges on a Cube - Geometry for Beginners
Ah yes, I remembering learning about this a long time ago, you have a formula along the lines of F+V-E=2. This is Euler's formula, where F= the number of faces, V= the number of vertices, and E=the number of edges. So you can solve for the third one by knowing the other two.- piknless
