How to Find Adjoints of Differential Operators?
I see so I should've included the function as well. So it would be -d(x2f(x))/dx= -2xf(x)-x2df(x)/dx. So what should my operator look like? Is it everything except for the f(x)?- rebork

How to Find Adjoints of Differential Operators?
So I messed up for the first part: (##(x2d/dx)^\dagger##) = (##(d/dx)^\dagger##)(##(x2)^\dagger##) Then the result would be: (-d/dx)*(x2)= -2x?- rebork

How to Find Adjoints of Differential Operators?
Yes I believe I figured it out yesterday! ##(AB)^\dagger##=(##B^\dagger##)(##A^\dagger##) But for this d2/dx2, it will be the same result right or should I not be able to use that rule?- rebork

How to Find Adjoints of Differential Operators?
Homework Statement Find the adjoints for x2d/dx and d2/dx2 Homework Equations I know that (x2)_dagger=x2 and that (d/dx)_dagger=-(d/dx). The Attempt at a Solution I solved x2d/dx by doing the following: (x2)_dagger * (d/dx)_dagger= (x2) * (-d/dx) thus the answer should be...- rebork

What Was Your Biggest Academic Fear?
Glad to hear that man. I would love to pick a path and put all my effort into it but I'm still deciding which path to take. Once I do I'd put a lot of effort into it just as you did.- rebork

What Was Your Biggest Academic Fear?
I know everyone's had a big fear during their academic careers; mine currently is the fear of which field to take. I'm a current 2nd year physics major at the University of California, Davis and I am having doubts about physics being the right path for me. I do well in both physics and...- rebork

Need some advice on starting a blog
I've been wanting to start a blog/website to host my interests in physics and astronomy. I don't know how to make a website so I was wondering if you guys know any blog sites that are pretty good for a science oriented person. I was thinking of trying out Google's blogger but if you guys have...- rebork

Yep I do like fish though I never about my favorite type of fish before. I would have to say its the Blobfish...naw just kidding. I took some time to look up that fish and its exceptionally strange. But my favorite fish would have to be salmon. Why? Cause my mom makes some delicious food with...- rebork
