Undergrad Direction of friction when rolling without slipping
Hmm, from what you guys said, I tried to approach the problem from a different angle...can some somebody check my work please? I tried using LaTeX, but there's some weird error where I'm only getting thetas no matter what I type, so sorry for readability. There's a frictional force f = f i... -

Undergrad Direction of friction when rolling without slipping
We've just studied rolling without slipping and I was having some trouble deciding the direction of the frictional force in some cases. So I pondered a little bit and recalled how you choose the direction of friction for "normal" translation without rotation: If the friction is static, then... -

How Do Factors Affect Liquid Vapour Pressure and Substance Volatility?
Homework Statement (I)Explain how each of the following factors affect the vapour pressure of a liquid: (a)surface area, (b)volume, (c)attractive intermolecular forces, (d)temperature, (e)density of liquid. (II)Order the following substances in terms of volatility: CH4, CBr4, CH2Cl2, CH3Cl...- Referos

Minimum area of a triangle with fixed incircle
Ah, thanks, I managed to find the area with your "hint". I didn't see that triangle similarity before. From there, differentiating was simple.- Referos

Graduate Length contraction and interstellar travel
Interstellar travel is always a problem in science fiction: you can't have the hero hibernate for millions of years whenever he or she wants to travel to another star, but it's annoying when spaceships just magically move faster than light. However, wouldn't length contraction from special...- Referos

Euler's formula and differential equations
Thanks for the help, but I don't see how not replacing |z| by r solves anything. I would still get a |z| instead of a z. Besides, if I have defined |z| to be r, then I should be able to freely substitute |z| by r without any contradiction, shouldn't I?- Referos

Euler's formula and differential equations
Homework Statement Consider the complex number z=rcos\theta + irsin\theta, where r=|z|, \theta=arg(z) (r is constant, \theta is a variable). Show that \frac{dz}{d\theta}=iz, then solve this differential equation to show that z=re^{i\theta}. Homework Equations z=rcos\theta +...- Referos

What Is the Average Force Exerted by Water on a Diver?
Wait, are you supposed to reach a numerical answer (e.g., 5N)? Or can it be in terms of other variables or parameters?- Referos

What Is the Average Force Exerted by Water on a Diver?
No, I don't think there's enough info to solve this. Unless I am mistaken, we need to know from which height the diver jumped (or at least his speed when he entered the water), and how much he moved once in the water. And the diver's mass is 10kg? Did your mean 100kg?- Referos
