Graduate How Can I Apply a Quaternion Rotation on a Local Axis After an Initial Rotation?
Hey, Once again, I got a question about quaternions. Say I have an initial rotation Q1. I now want to rotate Q1 on the X and then on the Y axis. BUT: The Y rotation should apply to the local Y axis which was given in Q1. The problem is: If i rotate Q1 by the X-rotation Q2, then the Y...- Registred

Graduate Quaternions & Rotations in 3D Space: What You Need to Know
Thank you so much for this excellent explanation! This was the point I was unsure about - being able to represent every rotation with ONE quaternion is a reason to not use matrices. I'm already trying to implement a quaternion functionality and hope that I won't encounter any problems. -

Graduate Quaternions & Rotations in 3D Space: What You Need to Know
Thanks for your answer! How do you mean that? A quaternion can be represented by a matrix? I know that OpenGL and other graphics APIs work with 4x4 matrices internally, however, frameworks built around these APIs often implement Quaternions for rotation and transform them to rotation matrices... -

Graduate Quaternions & Rotations in 3D Space: What You Need to Know
Hey there, I have a question regarding quaternions and rotations. It's related to 3D graphics programming, but nevertheless I'm sure the physics forum is the right place for my question. As far as I've understood there are 3 primary ways we can store rotation: euler angles, quaternions and...
