B Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and determinism

Do you propose that observers observe what the object "decides" to reveal, and not what actually is?

B Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and determinism

This is essentially proposing hidden variables, no?

B Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and determinism

I really don't see why you assume objects "decide" anything as opposed to react to the environment. If there is a sufficient gravitational pull, then the object will gravitate towards it. That does not mean the object chose to obey gravity.

B Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and determinism

Thanks for the question! I don't necessarily think superdeterminism says anything for HUP except adding back local hidden variables, and taking away QM's probabilistic results. I would think that only continuous monitoring of preset unaltering variables would be able to test for...

B Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and determinism

Thanks for you reply! I didn't realize that distinction of complimentary characteristics vs "any" other factors. So I guess my question becomes, how can one ever know the exact conditions of the setup if one can only measure, to the maximal degree, one of the complimentary characteristics? Will...

I Does Memorizing 70,000 Digits Increase the Chance of Being a Bolzmann Brain?

If I am understanding you correctly, you assume that all brain states are equally likely to be a BB. Therefore, after having memorized the digits, your brain state would have to be equally likely to be a BB as before you did or while you did, no? -Riley

What is the Role of Non-Scientists in the Scientific Community?

Hello everyone, I am a layman who basically cannot do math, yet am inexplicably drawn to physics and chemistry, so here I am to learn and ask questions, mostly! I don't know what else to say but nice to meet you all!

B Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and determinism

As I understand it the principle states that the more accurately you measure one factor of an object, for example speed, the less you can tell of any other factors, for example position. To me this seems we will every only be able to measure an approximation of reality and thus determinism...
