I’ve been doing a lot of extra reading (actual stuff like physics textbooks like stuff written by Purcell and Kibble for example). I’m hoping it’ll patch up and bring me upto a higher standard of physical intuition as well as mathematical competence
I appreciate the course I’m doing isn’t as...
It’s a joint honours, so 50% maths and 50% physics hence fewer physics modules.
Currently aiming for Imperials Quantum Fields and Quantum Gravity MA/MSc - so that’ll patch up any missing physics modules later on
Yeah, still similar plan, cosmology is up for competition with nuclear physics though - so the destination depends on where my interests and strengths lie. But PhD and then research is the plan yeah.
I won't disclose my age, but i'm in the late 20s. I'll be in mid early 30s when graduating this...
Hi Guys, I'm doing a Mathematics and Physics BSc in the UK. I'm studying it part time in my own time. Would is be disadvantageous in the long run to take longer to complete the degree? I have health problems that don't allow me to study as intensely for as long as I'd like. Every time I ramp up...
I'm not sure if it's applicable to american curriculum, but i'm finding Tom Kibble's Classical Mechanics a very good textbook. Hope this might help a little, good luck with your studies
Whilst I’m pretty sure I know what you mean by myth of physics and whether or not that is the case in my situation; that’s not where the issues lies.
The problem lies in the fact that I dislike learning all the jargon that leads to the eventual conceptualisation of phenomena I’m interested...
I have an interest in cosmology but I’m also super interested in genetics. The nature of genetic mutation and effects on the CNS medically especially.
Do you guys know any famous medical theories that have developed with a start in physics that have becoming accepted in Biology/Medicine?
I’m...
I think I’ll be okay. I just found out the university I dreamed of going to as a teenager is available for part time studies in MPhil format - I’m sticking to this pathway, the first post was probably what I needed most to hear. Intimidation is what I’m dealing with, thanks for the post anyway
Thank you. I appreciate that understanding of my situation. I'll definitely do that when I get to the Physics problems, for sure. Right now most of my learning is just the basic mathematics; calculus for the most part. The detail orientation of things like integrals annoys me a lot and the...
I’m a first year student (Maths & Physics), I’m learning the material on my own (distance learning) and I’m struggling with a first year grade average in these subjects between 60 and 70. The top score at my school is 85+. I’m not going to get that in the first year much less will I manage...
