High School Transparency of water, glass and plastic materials

If the transparency is dependent on the chemical structure then can u explain why PMMA is transparent while polyethylene (which is also a hydrocarbon polymer) is opaque? is there any other reason other than the electron-photon interaction. I mean can anyone give a better explanation.

COMSOL Help: 3D Electromagnetics Wave Propagation

COMSOL help- very URGENT Hi there... Can anyone help me to model the wave propagation through a block of material using the 3D electromagnetics application mode in comsol? I want to simulate the attunation in the intensity of wave when it travels through different materials like Si, Ni...

Modeling EM Wave Coupling to Metal Particles without RF Module?

Hi timepasser, I am getting back to you for the old problem which u did? I now have the 3D electromagnetics module... so can you help me how you tackled to study the propagation of wave through the metal strip...that would be very helpful to me... Please do reply.. Thanks

Material Parameters: Heat Transfer Coeffecient & Emissivity

thanks minger.. so u mean to say that i can't rely on the formula which u gave nw...ok then my hard time starts nw to find on the nano scale...can you tell me what those above equations will be if my crss section is a cuboid? and lso any source to find reynolds and prandlt's parametre?

Material Parameters: Heat Transfer Coeffecient & Emissivity

hi minger thanks for responding...so how will i get those values? is heat transfer coeffecient a geometry based function? i am actually interested in microns and nanometre scale values...

Undergrad Is Silicon Transparent to Infrared Light?

Hi matlabdude, thanku very much for the response and the reference u gave...taking a quick look at the data u gave and the data andy resnick gave...the maximum transmission seems jus below 60%. however u pointed out tat transmission is at high 90's ... anyway thanyou for the data you gave...
