Hi everyone...

I am doing a problem on heat transfer on multilayers... want to find out the emmisivity of some materials like silicon, silicon dioxide, Nickel, Tungten... Can anyone suggest me some papers or links or good books to get the emmisivty of these materials...

Thanks in advance

Hi andy resnik,
thankyou very much for the links and references..

What is the definition of heat transfer?

Heat transfer is the process of thermal energy moving from one object or substance to another due to a difference in temperature. This can occur through conduction, convection, or radiation.

How does heat transfer work in multilayer systems?

In multilayer systems, heat transfer occurs between layers of different materials. The heat will flow from the layer with the higher temperature to the layer with the lower temperature until they reach thermal equilibrium.

What factors affect heat transfer in multilayer systems?

The thermal conductivity of each layer, the thickness of each layer, and the temperature difference between the layers all play a role in determining the rate of heat transfer in multilayer systems.

What is the difference between conductive and convective heat transfer?

Conductive heat transfer occurs when heat is transferred through direct contact between two objects. Convective heat transfer, on the other hand, involves the movement of fluids or gases carrying heat energy from one place to another.

How can heat transfer in multilayer systems be optimized?

To optimize heat transfer in multilayer systems, it is important to choose materials with high thermal conductivity, minimize the thickness of each layer, and maintain a large temperature difference between the layers. Additionally, proper insulation and design considerations can also improve heat transfer efficiency.
