That's an important point. Most Precalc courses are designed as a skill review, whereas college algebra is usually set to be a full instruction course in a narrower topic set. You'll cover the core concepts, but you won't spend too much time with them, and the precalc will move a lot faster...

I looked through one of those at a Borders. They are pretty much like Norman described. Lots of worked problems, and minimal discussion. Seemed pretty good for what it was though.

I'd recommend an 86. The layout is much less annoying than an 83, it is allowed by all of the Math Departments I have ever heard of, and it has all the power you need. The only downside is that a department geared toward 83/4s may not give you the best support for it, so you need to play with it...

I have neither my liscence, nor my permit, as I am exceptionally lazy about it. I quite frankly do not have any wish to drive until I actually need to. Which will be next year when my Dad graduates from our University and I no longer have a ride. :smile:

Summer was fun, but I'm looking forward to starting school. August 24th is bearing down fast though, so I think I'm definitely going to work as hard as I can at doing absolutely nothing until then. Except for when I have to get all my junk for classes.
