Graduate Article on New Planck Satellite data
What kind of new physics can produce these CMB anomalies observed at large angular scales? I think it might be related to quantum gravity as they may hint at physics at the time of big bang that's amplified by inflation- scottbekerham

Geometrical algebra in theoretical physics
So why isn't it mainstream? Is it because it's new or what? Shouldn't it replace ordinary vector calculus if it's easier to work with and provide geometrical approach far superior than ordinary calculus?- scottbekerham

Geometrical algebra in theoretical physics
Is geometric algebra and geometric calculus worth learning for a theoretical physicist? What are the advantages of this approach against the usual vector calculus ?- scottbekerham

What's the most active field of physics nowadays?
I mean one who is working on strings feels that theories he's developing will turn out to be ultimately false (It's just some mathematical curiousity) but in condensed matter one study graphene and other things that's very important in real life- scottbekerham

What's the most active field of physics nowadays?
I hear people saying that theoretical HEP is very difficult . The entry barrier is very hard to penetrate and similar stories . Also and most importantly it has no connection to real life and it will take decades to produce a real theory so one should better study condensed matter that have...- scottbekerham

Graduate How hard is string theory exactly?
I think (I don't know if it's true) that the most important skill one has to acquire in order to really understand strings is differential geometry and lie groups . Differential geometry is the basic tool to use as one deals with curved surfaces , branes and other geometric structures. Even...- scottbekerham

What's the most active field of physics nowadays?
I have some questions. What's the most active field of physics nowadays? Is theoretical high energy physics worth doing ? What's the current state of research ? Which is easier one to get quickly into research ,Condensed matter or particle physics, string theory etc.?- scottbekerham

Graduate How hard is string theory exactly?
It's very difficult due to the huge amount of knowledge you have to master in order to make any interesting contribution to the field and the physics is also inherently very difficult so it's difficult on both physics and math side. However , If you want to know what's string theory is all about...- scottbekerham

Graduate Q is dense in R question about proof
This is self evident .Any real number must lie between two successive integers . When You have the natural number system ,Irrationals fill the gaps between any 2 successive integers . It's very simple.- scottbekerham

Graduate What are the properties of orbifolds and how do they differ from manifolds?
What does orbifold means? The wikipedia article says it is a generalization of manifolds which looks like a quotient space locally . So if my understanding is correct , If R1 is the Euclidean 1-space and A is an element of R1 and we identify each A with A+2*PI we get a circle so there is an...- scottbekerham

High School Are ghosts real or just a scientific phenomenon?
Well , I think that real unknown entities might exist and may be called ghosts . May be there are dark matter planets and life or may be creatures that inhabits other dimensions but I do believe that most people who claim an experience with ghosts are either mentally ill , liers or there is a...- scottbekerham

Almost done with 1st year of physics, doing really well, but
To make things easier for you , you should study vector calculus and most importantly vector calculus in curvilinear co-ordinates then classical mechanics will be easy for you . Take a look at Taylor's classical mechanics he covers the mathematical prerequisites well. You can also try boas...- scottbekerham
