Medical What's a Good Brain Book for a Musician and Educator?
I would never suggest GEB for starters...It is an amazing book - but only if you are already exposed to some simpler stuff. Phantoms in the Brain is what I would suggest someone first.- shruth

Medical Accelerating Learning: Is It Possible?
In an ideal world the rate a student is taught should be tailored to his/her abilities. But again, that would be an ideal world. It is inescapable that some children can learn some things quicker than others and each child has his/her own domain of excellence. Practical implementation of this is...- shruth

Medical M&B Journal Club: Join the Discussion!
Should we all declare our educational level and field of interest so that an informed choice can be made about the kind of papers that are picked for discussion? Also, maybe it would be better if we allotted 2 weeks for each paper. This would give everyone enough time to read it and formulate...- shruth

Medical Action Potentials: How Does it Work?
I believe that there is some substance in saltydog's argument. Occam's razor can only be used if there are two competing arguments which 'explain' a phenomenon. We are not discussing whether the mind is a property of the brain...there is sufficient evidence towards that. But what is moot is...- shruth
