High School What are these bright spots in this zoomable image of the Milky Way?

Thanks for the replies Marcus and Cepheid. Your descriptions helped me understand a lot more. How is it that we are able to separate the CMB's radiation and the rest of the universe's radiation and determine where/when it came from? -
