7 Statistics Problems I Cannot Solve
I was sick recently, and missed two days of class. Out of 35 problems, I got stuck on these 7: In a large experiment to determine the success of a new drug, 500 patients with a certain disease were given the drug. If more than 340 but less than 385 patients recover, the drug is considered 73%...- sjaguar13

Find the Probability of Joint PDF X and Y with Easy Calculation
Given this joint PDF of X and Y: X\Y 1 2 0 0.1 0.3 1 0.05 0.1 2 0.2 0.25 So: P(X = 1| X+Y=2) = 1/2? P(X <= 1 and Y <= 2) = 1/3?- sjaguar13

Impossible Statistics/Probability Questions
Would it be this equation: http://en.wikipedia.org/math/3/d/e/3de06a58c468e1a52640305d53393a20.png With lambda equaling 8 and k equaling 6? Actually, with the number of customers being fewer than 7, would I multiply that equation for k being from 0 to 6? For 7 out of 10 hours, p^7 * (1-p)^3 *...- sjaguar13

Impossible Statistics/Probability Questions
a) The table says "Critical Values for T Distributions"...don't really know what that is. b) Is (a) even possible to figure out? c) Yeah, but I don't know the probability of less than 7. Isn't the negative binomial the thing that counts the number of failures to get a success?...Oh wait, would...- sjaguar13

How Many Different Combinations?
I'm taking 6 classes and working. There are some things I just don't care about, this happens to be one of them. As for the second part, I got: 5C3 x 5C4 + 5C4 x 5C3 + 5C5 x 5C2 The teacher actually didn't grade the tests. A teaching assistant did. Partial credit was supposed to be given, but...- sjaguar13

How Many Different Combinations?
It was a test question. It's posted exactly. How I answered them was what I typed before the ? Those are wrong, though, because I got a big red X through it and -10 on that question. There's no explanation as to why it was wrong. Is it supposed to be 10C7?- sjaguar13

How Many Different Combinations?
Alright, I have no idea. If we go really small and just go for 2 from the first 3, that is: AB AC BC 3. 3 questions, choose 2 is 3. 3! is 6. Divide by 2! (2) is 3. That doesn't seem right. I don't even know what 3 choose 2 is, but I am guessing that isn't right either. I looked up...- sjaguar13

You are taking a test with 10 questions, you only have to answer 7, how many ways are there to do it? 10 x 9 x 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 ? How many different ways are there to answer the questions if you must answer at least 3 from the first 5 questions? 5 x 4 x 3 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 ?- sjaguar13
