Undergrad Why do objects rest on space thus causing gravity?
I've heard it explained is that we are all falling.. everything, we fall to the earth, the Earth is falling towards the sun, the sun is falling towards the galactic centre... to understand gravity maybe this would be helpful and to get an idea of angular momentum counterbalancing...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
Adventure Quest... ha ha.. brilliant! I'd keep my head down if I were you lol... :) Yes elites are elites for a reason and rather then slowing them down to my level I would much rather try and catch up.. even if its just for that fleeting moment lol... But I think that like they say if you play...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
Thanks for replying to me. Its not your fault that I felt uncomfortable more my own feeling of inadequacy where hard scientific facts are concerned in posing a question to a community that I am unfamiliar with. I suppose I'm just tired of being inspired by the Discovery channel and thought I...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
I'm trying to see the relationship between energy put in and energy that comes out or is lost... Sorry I'm not explaining my train of thought correctly... Just thinking to myself that if a burst of energy occurs then after the fact its all down hill from there for it, in its purest form.. I mean...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
The more I think of your mail the more I say to myself that I perhaps am not welcomed in posing such a question? To me it is exactly real things in life that serve as catalysts for people becoming interested in science and wondering how people as great as Sir Isaac Newton came up with the laws...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
Its interesting I read that when a projectile strikes something energy is released in the form of sound and heat, yet this energy was diminishing with distance and some was transferred through the air as a shockwave so to speak.. then some energy created by the engine and the subsequent friction...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
Ah I see.. so its not just a simple case of knowing what the vehicle is capable of, but also the means by which its travelled. never thought of that- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
Hi and thanks for replying Danger... yea it is being handled by the experts but its more the spark for an answer to the question for myself that I am curious about at this stage... applying the mathematical formula and so on you know.. But yes there are people for whom this is bread and butter...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
Thanks:) I read that velocity only applies to moving in a straight line, that in a curve you increase in speed but your velocity changes.. I think that was the gist of it anyway. Yes I'm sure that an expert will know but I would love to be able to work it out for myself.. I kind of thought that...- Soundmike

How to work out the impact force of a colision
Hi :) Here is a true story... I was in my car which weighs 820 Kgs, I for arguments sake weighs 80Kgs and the vehicle has an acceleration of 0-100 Kph in 15sec I was at a stop and went to go around a stationary vehicle in front of me.. I locked the wheel and attempted the pass but instead made...- Soundmike

Hi My name is Mike (no schooling but a passion for physics)
Hi, with bullying in school from teachers and pupils and then problems at home there was little time for learning... but as times settled down and chaos became calmer chaos :) questions were asked and answers became a mission or should I say an itch that I don't know how to scratch... I was...- Soundmike
