Undergrad What Caused the Buzzing Sensation Near the Power Line?
Well... maybe you shouldn't be hanging around large electrical tranmission towers. Its probably due to electric field created outside a wire. Similar to how if a large voltage is passed through a small rubber insulated wire you can still be shocked. The voltage in these sorts of towers is...- Spastik_Relativity

Refraction of Light: Understand Physics Behind Bending Light
Hi I have a good understanding of the refraction of light and the reason it occurs etc. but what is confusing me is the exact reason for the "slowing" and hence bending of light inside a transparent material. What are the exact properties that allow a transparent material to slow a beam...- Spastik_Relativity

Is My Calculated Gravity in Diluted Gravity Lab Unusual?
11.0 m/s^2 is incorrect when considering dilation of gravity. This error is most liekly due to human error in the recording of results e.g. time, distance, height. To improve experimental data experiments should always be repeated at least 3 times.- Spastik_Relativity

Dangers of Grinding Aluminium & Potassium Chlorate
I'm not sure of the exact answer here but there are a couple of things i can think of. The reactive nature of potassium is dangerous but its more likely somethign to do with the aluminium reacting with the chlorate giving Aluminium oxide because aluminium in passivating and releasing chlorine...- Spastik_Relativity

Undergrad Threshold Frequency: PE effect
Yeah I get that it only applies for solids. But I thought that in a photon-electron interaction either all the photons momentum or none of the photons momentum is given to the electron in the metal. From the above principle I applied the conservation of momentum and einstein's photoelectric...- Spastik_Relativity

Undergrad Threshold Frequency: PE effect
So the thresold frequency is dependent on the properties of the valency band, right? Because i was fiddling around with waves and the idea that in the Photoelectric effect that either none or all of the momentum of the photon is transferred to the electron and i came up with a relationship...- Spastik_Relativity

Undergrad Threshold Frequency: PE effect
In the Photoelectric effect what is the threshold frequency dependent on? This isn't homework I was just pondering. Is it the binding forces between the electron and the nuclues or is it dependent of a property of the photon?- Spastik_Relativity

What are the basics of physics regarding displacement, velocity, and time?
I think I know what your talking about. Is it a graph that looks sort of like a zig-zag? If so the velocity at the peak of the balls bounce changes direction therefore the sign infront of the velocity changes. There is no velocity (neglectible) between those two points. Similarly when the...- Spastik_Relativity

Considering Physics Career: Help from Australia
I am considering a career in science and am particularly interested in physics but I'm unsure whether it is a wise career choice.
