Simple yet tricky definite integration problem
I'm given: f(x)=\left\{\begin{matrix} 1 & -1\leq x \leq 1\\ 0 & otherwise \end{matrix}\right. The integral to evaluate is: \int_{-1}^1 f(x-t) dt What integration techniques should i use to solve this problem? Could someone please provide the steps to solve this problem (as the...- Tamis

Markov Chain Steady State (?were am i going wrong?)
Thnx for the reply! I wasn't aware of this row vector convention, seems rather strange to me. Now i just transpose the transition matrix and use the 'normal method'.- Tamis

Absolute value squared of complex number?
Pff i feel stupid :P I was trying to do all kinds of crazy stuff like interchanging the power and absolute value etc. And making use of things like |e^{i\cdot \phi}|=e^{-Im(\phi)}. Can't believe it's that simple :P Thnx for the help!- Tamis

Absolute value squared of complex number?
I'm given 1-a\cdot e^{-i\cdot 2 \pi f}. The squared absolute value apparently is |1-a\cdot e^{-i\cdot 2 \pi f}|^2=1+a^2-2acos(2 \pi f). Sadly the awnser doesn't show the steps of this derivation. I have tried many times to derive it my self but have not been able to do so. I feel like i...- Tamis

Markov Chain Steady State (?were am i going wrong?)
Homework Statement Subpart of the question requires me to find the steady state of the transition matrix: P=\begin{bmatrix} 0.1 & 0.7 & 0.2 \\ 0.1 & 0.8 & 0.1\\ 0.3 & 0.1 & 0.6 \end{bmatrix} Homework Equations We thus need to find vector \boldsymbol{v} in the equation...- Tamis

Undergrad What Is the PDF of X^2 for a Uniformly Distributed Variable X?
Oke this is a simple question but it has me a bit stumped. Given a random variable X with a uniform probability distribution between [0,2]. What is the probability distribution function (pdf) of X^2 ?- Tamis
