Physics BS Grad Undecided about Career and Grad School-help
I'm currently doing a summer studentship at CERN where I'm doing analysis and picking up C++ and object oriented programming quite rapidly. I'm just concerned they wouldn't think I have enough in-depth knowledge of programming, which is why I thought they would prefer CS degrees over physics...- tappling

Physics BS Grad Undecided about Career and Grad School-help
I have read through most of the thread, and I think OP says no one will pay for you to go to law school. One of my plans consisted of studying and taking the patent bar to become an examiner to see if I liked the work, and tacking on law school if I decide to get a law degree.- tappling

Physics BS Grad Undecided about Career and Grad School-help
Locrian, I was afraid someone would confirm my suspicion that I made the wrong choice, but I know I can be pretty hard on myself when I make mistakes. You are right, I do have a Bachelor's and that puts me in a better position than many. I feel that I'm drawn to lab tech positions, one example...- tappling

Physics BS Grad Undecided about Career and Grad School-help
I was wondering if anyone could help me with the job search and deciding what graduate degree to pursue? Last night, my mom said something along the lines of, "It's such a shame that you got such a great scholarship (graduated with barely any debt) and studied physics in college. I should have...- tappling

Why integrate at these points? (Electric potential of a sphere)
Thanks for the reply! So, if I'm interpreting this correctly, since I choose V=0 to be at infinity (the potential goes to 0 really, really far away from the charged sphere), I can integrate from infinity to point P for the potential difference. If point P is outside the sphere, I'm finding the...- tappling

Why integrate at these points? (Electric potential of a sphere)
Homework Statement Find the potential inside and outside a uniformly charged solid sphere of radius R and total charge q. Homework Equations V(r) = -∫E dl The Attempt at a Solution I just have a question about finding the potential inside the sphere. Why integrate from infinity...- tappling

Choosing a Career Path: My Struggle as a Biophysics Major
So far, I've decided (maybe on a whim, so I probably need to consult my advisors) to take up just Physics with a Biophysics minor. Since I only need the 2 biophysics classes and need to take 2 upper-level classes, might as well take up the minor. It frees up my schedule tremendously and I feel...- tappling

Choosing a Career Path: My Struggle as a Biophysics Major
Thanks for the reply! I guess my problem is having a smattering of interest in everything. Robotics and prosthetics sound extremely interesting and I'm sure I'd enjoy working in that industry if I had the hardware know-how or a biomed engineer background. I've been interested in all things...- tappling

Is MinutePhysics (youtube) a reliable source?
To me, they're enjoyable to watch. They give you a VERY broad overview/oversimplification of extremely complex physical concepts, so you definitely have to do more research outside his videos.- tappling

Choosing a Career Path: My Struggle as a Biophysics Major
Those who read this will probably think I'm all over the place, because I am. I really need help in sorting out what I want for my undergraduate education and my career prospects for the future. I'm currently a sophomore majoring in Biophysics. I have a decent overall GPA (to my knowledge)...- tappling
