Is a Ramjet-Rocket Hybrid Engine a Feasible Engineering Project?
Yeh i went ahead and did it now, and really wish i had not but its a great learning experience though a very steep learning curve with a lot of work even though i am trying to keep it as simple as possible. I have one question, i never took chemistry (and for some reason we missed the...- TERR0RBYTE

Is a Ramjet-Rocket Hybrid Engine a Feasible Engineering Project?
I wanted to get some opinions on this, I am serious considering designing a ramjet rocket hybrid engine for my 3rd year mechanical engineering degree project and have started doing the research to see exactly how much work it entails I still can't quite decide... is this a realistic project? (my...- TERR0RBYTE

Mechanical engineering: weapons
I have designed and built a coilgun and rail gun for fun in the past, but if your serious about designing weapons you need to ask yourself some deep questions. (plus watch the film ironman:) )- TERR0RBYTE

Why does the J-58 engine inlet spike retract at high speeds on the SR-71?
This one stumped me also. I think the spike is extended at lower speeds as the inlet needs to be bigger to take in more air as it is less compressed. (mostly for the turbofan engine anyhow).- TERR0RBYTE
