Undergrad Why aren't stars in a star cluster attracted to each other?
If a globular cluster is a dense(relatively speaking) collection of stars, why don't the stars attract each other gravitationally? Why don't they all collide to form a mega-star?- texasblitzem

Watch someone's life through their eyes
Kinda like "Being John Malkovitch" but not quite. My scenario deals with historical figures that are dead. What if it were possible to relive someone elses life, watch it on a tv perhaps, AND hear their thoughts as they thought them... We have einstein's brain somewhere, right? If it were...- texasblitzem

High School What Causes These Unique Swirly Ice Formations?
"Indeed, the changing wavelength of the spiral suggests gravity played a role in their formation. This could be how heavy snow sags under its own weight when it clings to a braided wire. Why the spirals should oppose the braid, however, is not obvious. READER FEEDBACK (CONTINUED): A popular...- texasblitzem

High School What Causes These Unique Swirly Ice Formations?
http://www.spaceweather.com/submissions/large_image_popup.php?image_name=Michael-French-swirlyICE_1296508078.jpg" These are pretty cool looking. Any theories as to how they form backwards from the braided wire?- texasblitzem

Why Does Applying Education in Daily Life Annoy Some People?
I was raised by an English teacher, and always had my grammar corrected. I find myself doing the same to others all (of)? the time, and I'm trying to stop it, but I have a friend that says "supposably" instead of supposedly. It drives me crazy and I want to enlighten her as to the proper...- texasblitzem

Why do we all seem to have weird eating habits?
I love fried chicken, but especially the thighs. I always eat thighs the same way. First take off the skin and the first layer of meat and eat them together. Then take off that side meat that comes off easily. I then separate the bone from the socket and eat the meat around the bone. Lastly I...- texasblitzem

Is Life Essential for Existence?
For me to be able to perceive "my own" existence, I must be alive. If I die, I cannot perceive my existence, therefore, "I" do not exist anymore. Oh well, it makes sense to me.- texasblitzem

Undergrad Understanding Orbital Mechanics: The Force Behind Planetary Motion
Dave, I've been playing with the simulator in the link a few posts up. What constitutes as a stable 3-body system? I was able to get a large mass orbited by a tiny mass and those two orbited an OMFG mass. But the orbital path was a bit eccentric, and the "sun" very slowly traveled across the...- texasblitzem

High School What Will Happen to a Fan in Space?
I'd like to chime in on this if no one minds. I think the fan blades will spin and the base will slowly start to spin in the same direction as the blades, just like a helicopter would if it did not have the tail rotor to counteract the rotation of the main rotor. But now I have a question, if...- texasblitzem

Undergrad Understanding Orbital Mechanics: The Force Behind Planetary Motion
Dave, your response was the most concise and clearest explanation I've ever read regarding this topic. I've wondered the same thing as Kothar and I'm glad he asked it. Thanks Dave, I can totally visualize your specks' interactions with each other, I get it now.- texasblitzem

Could the scroll wheel be smoothed out with software?
With my mouse, and I assume most mice, if I click the wheel, and then move the mouse up or down in relation to the circle that appears where I clicked, the screen scrolls slowly and smoothly. Or faster depending on how far from the point of origin I move the mouse. But I would definitely enjoy...- texasblitzem

Medical Multiple Nerve Tics: Do You Experience this Too?
I too have weird nerve signal crossings. There's a spot on the back of my head, where the skull meets the neck, that if I scratch, I can feel a twitch on my forehead, directly above my left eyebrow. I don't even have to scratch it, if I just tap the spot lightly, my left eyebrow twitches. There...- texasblitzem
