How does pH affect secondary structure of proteins?
I understand that pH affect the tertiary structure as it will change the ionic interactions between the COO- and NH3+ groups, however, as the secondary structure is caused by hydrogen bonds, how does pH affect it? Is it because the change in tertiary structure will alter the shape of the protein... -

Undergrad Is current proportional to emf
Faraday's law states that emf is proportional to change in flux. The scenario I am using is a magnet is moved towards a closed loop. As it moves towards the loop, flux through the loop is increased causing a emf to be induced. Does I also know that a current is induced. So does that mean current...- TT0

Undergrad Current in secondary coil as current in primary increases
Hi, so the scenario is that the primary coil of a transformer is attached to a battery in a circuit with a variable resistor. The resistor is set to the maximum resistance. As I increase the current in primary coil by reducing resistance at a constant rate, will the current in the secondary...- TT0

High School Resonance relationship with glass shatter
I see, that is a very nice video, thanks! So the vibrating glass is a form of standing waves right? Also, since it took some time for the glass to break is it because despite the vibrations being of the same energy, each vibration weakens the structure of the glass and after enough weakening...- TT0

High School Resonance relationship with glass shatter
Just to check my understanding: -The glass will only break when the sound is at the resonant frequency of the glass. -This creates standing waves in the glass. -The glass will only shatter if the sound is at a high enough volume (amplitude) -Otherwise, at a lower volume at resonant frequency...- TT0

Graduate What do polarisation lens block?
I see, just to check my understanding, does that mean a horizontally orientated polarising filter blocks light in which the electrical field is oscillating in the horizontal plane and the magnetic field is oscillating in the vertical plane but not light in which the electrical field is... -

Graduate What do polarisation lens block?
Electromagnetic waves are created by a accelerating charge that induces a changing electric field, that induces a changing magnetic field which propagates together through space. The electric and magnetic field are at right angles to each other. Polarisation blocks all but one plane of the... -

Undergrad Relationship between standing wave and resonance?
<Moderator's note: Template removed due to replacement in a technical forum.> In the textbook, it said that standing waves only occur at the resonant frequencies of the medium. I don't understand why. My understanding of standing waves is that it is when the medium length (slinky) is a...- TT0

Undergrad Relation between current and flux
So I learned that voltage/emf is proportional to the negative change in flux so the graph of the voltage is the negative derivative of the flux graph. What is the relation between flux and current. In a motor, a change in flux induces a current that creates an opposing magnetic field, and...- TT0
