CAD programs buying used / downloading question
Well first off I should say that my CAD college classes were done on AutoCAD 2005. I did not own a computer of my own at that time and thus I did not purchase the student version of the software but just used the system installed on the campus computer system. Now that I'm no longer in school...- turbo1889

Aerodynamic Drag Stabilization (Ballistic Application)
Thanks for the clarification on the "flair stablization" and also on "fins". Basically I get a mold cut in a aerodynamically feisable design and then can adjust the lead casting alloy to whatever strength is necessary for proper structural integrity of the slug --- the weight will very...- turbo1889

Aerodynamic Drag Stabilization (Ballistic Application)
Thanks for the clarification and math for question #2, minger. I've got the water tunnel partially built in the shop as of present. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now as to, jim mcnamara, you seem to be addressing question #3. For...- turbo1889

Aerodynamic Drag Stabilization (Ballistic Application)
1~ Glad to have that one answered. 2~ Good input. Is my reasoning correct that "to simulate higher velocities with low velocity experimental apparatus" use water instead of air (thicker fluid) ? 3~ For assistence in the self education process in the form of pictures of cut open...- turbo1889

Aerodynamic Drag Stabilization (Ballistic Application)
Okay, I've been working on designing a custom mold cut for a 410-gauge shotgun slug and need some help with the principle of "Drag Stabilization". Many shotguns are smooth bores and thus shotgun slugs in order to dependably fly straight must have a drag-stabilized design. They can not depend...- turbo1889

Need Formula or Data for Ballistic Bore Friction
Thanks a million, sunday, that was exactly the information I needed. A little bit of algebra and everything was A-Okay -- just as you said it would be.- turbo1889

Need Formula or Data for Ballistic Bore Friction
I'll see if the college library can't get them in on the inter-library loan program. It's really annoying how the college libraries don't have squat on anything gun related, unless of course it's anti-propaganda  . I mean -- ballistic engineering is a legitimate intellectual field as...- turbo1889

Need Formula or Data for Ballistic Bore Friction
Hello, I'm a college student in the last semester of my second year working towards my degree in Mechanical Engineering. I'm working on a project for my ODE (Math-222m) class involving the mathematical modeling of the internal ballistics of the common Spring/Air pellet rifle. I've got...- turbo1889
