Undergrad What is the significance of deriving PV=K?
Hi, I'm wondering what the physical meaning there is to taking the volume derivative of the equation pv=k. d/dv [ pv = k ] (v * dp/dv ) + p = 0 I know this has to do with the elasticity of a gas but I am unsure as to why this process of deriving the equation pv = k was taken. Any help...- Ultros88

Undergrad Calculating the Sound of Moving Objects?
Garvin, Thanks for pointing me to aeroacoustics. I wasn't really thinking about perpetual motion just wondering if I could use sound to control the motion of a pinwheel. It looks like I'll have to be pretty far along in a mechanical engineering degree to figure everything out. Waters, Show me... -

Undergrad Calculating the Sound of Moving Objects?
Hi, I was wondering what branches of physics and mathematics deals with calculating the type of sound produced when various shaped objects move in the air at relatively slow speeds. Specifically I was wondering if it would be possible to move an object, say to spin a pin wheel, by using a very... -

Fluid Dynamics Studies: Path to an Undergraduate Degree
Hello all, I'm interested in studying fluid dynamics as a profession but I'm uncertain as to what course of study I should pursue as an undergraduate. I've been thinking about taking my BA in mathematics and physics but due to the seemingly heavy computational nature of much of the work being...- Ultros88
