    Graduate Intuitive statistical mechanical explanation for thermodynamic 2nd law

    I don't have the intuitive picture of thermodynamic 2nd law, in terms of statistical mechanics. That is, why should the number of microstates be maximized in equilibrium? Anyone gives an intuitive explanation? Thanks a lot.

    Graduate Why z^(-1/2) cannot be expanded in Laurent series with center z=0?

    I wonder why z^(-1/2) cannot be expanded in Laurent series with center z=0. Anyone knows?
