    wow, I have to reply, so the first paragraph you're talking about relativity. second one is basically the idea I'm trying to write about, the thing is how would you go about ripping spacetime at will an in a controlled fashion?. from what I've read, physics books for the layman, I liked best...

    thanks for the reply TCS, if you could indulge me for a last posting. this then means that if spacetime IS ripped would mean that no energy could be passed from one side of the ripping to the other no matter the size of the rip, thus in principle it could mean that a shield or force field...
