Discrete vs. Applied Mathematics
So, I am interested in majoring in math at Georgia Tech starting this summer, and was wondering what the difference between discrete and applied mathematics is. Any information is greatly appreciated. Also, what does anyone think about double majoring in math and physics?- woodne

Undergrad Can matrices be used to solve systems with different degree variables?
That's what i was thinking, that it shouldn't be possible to solve that by a matrix, but my physics teacher swears there's a way to use a matrix for everything.- woodne

Undergrad Can matrices be used to solve systems with different degree variables?
Hello! First post here. My question is, is it possible to use a matrix to solve a system where you have the same variable, but a different degree. i.e. 2x^2 + 2x + y = 2 -3x^2 - 6x + 2y = 4 4x^2 + 6x - 3y = 6 Now, I know this is possible other ways, but seeing as each of those would...- woodne

Undergrad Kinematics of a ball and track
Though to get a more accurate approximation you should account for the rolling of the ball (assuming there is enough friction to prevent it from slipping): mgh\ =\ \frac{1}{2} mv^2\ +\ \frac{1}{2}I\omega^2 Where I is the moment of inertia for a sphere (\frac{2}{5}MR^2) and \omega is...
