Undergrad Curved to Rectangular Distribution
Hi Guys :) I have become interested in producing true random numbers of uniform distribution, and have come across this Numberphile video in my travels: The narration hints at the topic of converting numeric sequences of a curved distribution, inherently more likely to be closer to a mean...- X_Art_X

High School Magnetic Donuts: How to Tell North & South Poles?
Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies :) but I’m polluting the thread by introducing a practical application. For core memory it’s square (rectangular loop) ferrite with hysteresis quality: http://www.doitpoms.ac.uk/tlplib/ferroelectrics/images/img023.gif but forget about that :D I was meaning to...- X_Art_X

High School Magnetic Donuts: How to Tell North & South Poles?
Hi Guys :) There were donut shaped ferrite magnets used in core memory of the 50s - 70s that stored bits by being electronically magnetised in a clockwise, or counter clockwise direction. If you had a larger donut shaped magnet that was magnetised in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction...- X_Art_X

Undergrad Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle
Remember I said layman! :D I don't pretend to understand math If it applies to say, timing the observed angle of the travel of the Sun across the sky, could it be explained how measuring the time between Sunrise and Sunset could affect the daylight time? Or is that ridiculous?- X_Art_X

Undergrad Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle
Hi Guys, Newbie question from a layperson so please don't beat me up! :D I know that Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle relates to measurement/observation of particles with regard to quantum physics. My question is whether or not it applies to measuring anything in the observable...- X_Art_X

It's easy to test right now, and in the dark at night G & B values are much closer together. Thanks. -

Undergrad How Can I Improve My Laser Detection Software for Camera-Equipped Computers?
Hi Guys, I've felt the need to post a few times in 3 yrs, and this is one of them :) I tried to go back and thank contributors of another thread, but it was locked (likely because it was resolved, or 3 years old!). I'm writing for a camera equipped computer, tracking a red laser beam... -

Undergrad How Does VO2 Max Prediction Work in Fitness Testing?
Hi Guys, I'm doing a fitness course, and trying to understand an exercise in my textbook involving the prediction of a person's volume of Oxygen uptake. The test is done in an indirect way, predicting V02 Max based on physiological responses to exercise. The Procedure goes like this: 1. Record...- X_Art_X

High School Thanksgiving Dinner Debate About GoPed Gearing
Well put! You could consider the Earth as just another gear since it is a sphere that is engaged with the tyre, and could be perceived as a circle from one perspective :) -

High School Practical Problem (debate between friends)
Hi Guys, First post here. I'm in a debate with my friend who happens to be a climbing buddy. Dynamic ropes for climbing & abseiling come in two standard sizes, 50 and 60 Meters. The point being debated is weather or not the 60 meter rope has to be stronger than it's 50 meter counterpart...
