    Help creating constant-speed linear motion

Well, lead screws tend to be inefficient and to wear out quickly. I updated the info of the requirements in a new post so it will be more clear what's needed. Ball screws can be up to 90% efficient, which is great, but I'll have to see if they can be used for the high speed requirement, though.

    Help creating constant-speed linear motion

The HP involved is 3, and of this motor input, I'd like to get 2.7 HP's worth, but 2.5 HP is acceptable. There is also a specific speed the plate must move at, which is a constant 100 mph in a straight line for 1-2 feet. After this linear movement, the plate will bend into its four sections...

    Help creating constant-speed linear motion

I want to move a plate at a constant speed in a straight line, and to do so in as efficient a way as possible with high torque involved. What would be a good method to accomplish this? The problem is that both torque and efficiency are very important.

Automotive Battery selection for the hybrid motorcyle

Go with Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, as they're the only ones that won't explode from impacts amongst the secondary battery types with the best capacities. They also retain their capacity a lot longer than other lithium batteries and charge 10 times faster. This enables you to take a...

What is the best method of ornithopter flight?

My secret weapon in this is a new method for vertical lift whereby the upstroke is used for the creation of what I refer to as a "vortice ball moment", and then downstroking into this will yeild unbelievable vertical thrust. Carbon fiber rods are affordable and will keep the wings from...

What is the best method of ornithopter flight?

Well, I wanted to discuss the idea, not beat it to death immediately by just saying "No way." I've lost some of the respect I had for this forum.

Aerospace Projects: Ideas for Third-Year Aircraft Engineering Student

If you want something mechanical I'd suggest trying to make an ornithopter, which is about as mechanically-inclined as it gets. I'm admittedly interested and working on designs of these myself, and I think there's a lot of opportunity here to try something new and innovative.. if you're really...

What is the best method of ornithopter flight?

I've been designing an ornithopter, or bird-machine, if you will, but this is intended to be a manned aerial vehicle.. No, actually- it's like a jetpack, but with lightweight wings using carbon fiber and an electric engine with lithium batteries. The question here is- what is the ideal method...
