    Temperature change in different containers

Oh I get your explanation there, thank you! But still it doesn't point to the answer given, which is option 4. By the way, I asked the student again, and yes she confirmed that 4 is the answer. Told her to ask her teacher and then explain it to me. Or any other possible explanations or mistake...

    Temperature change in different containers

Yes, that would be my understanding too but none of the options given fit that. The closest one would be option 3, where Y ends at a higher temperature than X, assuming that after 30 minutes, Y still has some way to go in order to reach the same temperature as X. (Image uploaded)

    Temperature change in different containers

Homework Statement This is a question for 10 year old but I have a problem understanding why the answer is so. (The student asked me this.) There are two similar containers, X and Y, with 500 ml of boiling water. X is an aluminium container. Y is a plastic container. They are then covered with...

    Cigarette lighter in the fridge?

Thanks for the explanation! The idea is to put it not in the freezer but in the fridge (where he keeps his coke... haha) But in that annoying trick, what would happen? The lighter fluid would still be liquid, wouldn't it? Just that the lighter would be harder to find, in ice and in the freezer...

    Cigarette lighter in the fridge?

Recently I had a fallout with a close colleague of mine at work that sort of escalated into a grave situation. In retaliation (which is pretty minor compared to what he did), I took his cigarette lighter and hid it from him. We've been telling him to quit smoking anyway. He threw a fit upon...

Does Adding of Change the Meaning in Current of Electricity?

This is probably a problem with semantics. The textbook that I'm using has the title "Current Electricity". The corresponding syllabus has the title as "Current of Electricity". Is there a difference between the two titles? Would "of" in the middle make a difference or used in another...

[Got this joke in my email] On the first day of school, the children brought gifts for their teacher. The supermarket manager's daughter brought the teacher a basket of assorted fruit. The florist's son brought the teacher a bouquet of flowers. The candy-store owner's daughter gave the...

Can MyFitnessPal and Zumba Help Me Lose Weight?

Hey, I've been trying to improve my health and lose some weight too. Reading mcknia07's success makes me so jealous. I've increased my veggie intake and exercise more. But it turns out I'm more bulky, eat more and put on weight instead! Now I'm at a loss...

    World's most pointless inventions

I thought the paper shredder was a really unnecessary invention. You can shred the papers yourself. But it helps to shred large amounts of papers faster and more cleanly. And other people to piece together parts of the papers you've shredded more easily.
