Use Newtonian Model to determine what the scale reads

Homework Statement The strings attach to a scale which reads the force. What is the force that the scale will read? Homework Equations F=ma according to Newton's Laws. The Attempt at a Solution Thinking logically, I simply calculated the force of the left side: F=ma...

Calculate current/equivalence resistance of this circuit

So is what you're saying is that I can collapse resistors 1/2 and 4/5? and the resistance of them altogether would still be 10 ohms? what about resistor 3 and the initial resistor that was connected to the battery? I'm having a hard time understanding what my overall picture would look like...

Calculate current/equivalence resistance of this circuit

CWatters this is what I'm left with. I'm confused as to the significance of leaving out the middle resistor. Arghzoo: what i notice about the other 4 resistors is that they are in parallel circuits. What do you mean by collapsed? A critical piece of information I left out was...

Calculate current/equivalence resistance of this circuit

Hey there and thanks for your reply. I really apologize but I'm really not very good at circuits so I don't really know how to answer your two questions completely, so I will try my best. The bottom resistor: As far as I know, is what makes this resistor special is that it's connected to...

Calculate current/equivalence resistance of this circuit

Hi guys! I'm new here. I've been lurking around for a while though and I have my first question that I can't seem to answer without finally making an account so I look to you all for help. Love the site! The following question is from my second semester physics class at UC davis. Homework...
