Fukushima Japan Earthquake: nuclear plants Fukushima part 2
Well, I guess it isn't that hard to "envision" an earthquake and a tsunami at this coast of Japan. In modern society money matters. Tepco wasn't willing to spend the extra bucks on safety measures, so they gambled with a maximum tsunami height of 5,7m. This time they lost the game and the...- Yamanote

Fukushima Japan earthquake - contamination & consequences outside Fukushima NPP
How do they see that? Did they do measurements? I mean, the whole plant is leaking radioactivity since March 11th 2011, so in general this is no news. What do you mean with "glowing fishes" in the US? I don't understand your post.- Yamanote

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
I also don't understand this TIP room story. First they say the door is closed, then they suddenly discover that it is blown away. How come?- Yamanote

Fukushima Japan earthquake - contamination & consequences outside Fukushima NPP
As it appears to be quite difficult to collect the radioactive stuff that was distributed over a large area, there is simply no other choice than to wait for support from decay. Obviously not, because if the water would be clean, they could simply discharge it into the ocean (what they will...- Yamanote

Fukushima Fukushima Management and Government Performance
Right. Thanks tsutsuji-san for translating! Nature doesn't care about man-made papers and what Tepco thought or not. They can discuss this forth and back - it is too late now, they saved the money for making the plant tsunami-proof and now they have to face the consequences. And hiding...- Yamanote

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
I expect a similar situation in all three reactors. If there is a vessel with (given) holes at the bottom, one can only maintain the waterlevel inside by pouring more water into the vessel than escapes through the holes. Obviously this is not possible at Fukuichi, otherwise they would have...- Yamanote

Japan Earthquake: Nuclear Plants at Fukushima Daiichi
Indeed, pretty cool and detailed drawings this time, would like to walk through the plant to see how it looks in reality! Years ago I did such kind of drawings for other types of big industrial plants, but I have never been to an NPP.- Yamanote

Is there any detailed listing of all the radionuclides and their concentrations in the water from the reactor buildings available? I haven't seen one yet.- Yamanote

Fukushima Japan earthquake - contamination & consequences outside Fukushima NPP
I personally? Not even a second. But radiation won't ask for my opinion. And that's exactly my issue with nuclear energy. If it goes wrong, one might have to wait for a long long time. And not every price on Earth must be paid in money. Surprisingly they are not even able to effectively...- Yamanote
