Undergrad Can Gravity Really Repel? Understanding Gravitons and Common Misconceptions

the blob inc: Can you explain to me what you mean? If gravity is NOT a pulling force, how come I'm not pulled away from the ground and into space? And then how can any planet orbit the Sun instead of getting pushed away? And.. how can planets and stars and even galaxies form if gravity is a...

Undergrad Can Gravity Really Repel? Understanding Gravitons and Common Misconceptions

Maybe you're thinking of the so-called "dark energy" that is theorized to cause the accelerated expansion of the universe? From what I've heard at least, dark energy is a "opposite" (repulsive) gravitational force

    Is Teleportation Really Possible?

Yeah, it would probably function great as a copy machine, but as for _moving_ people, I don't think it's possible. Copying, yes, moving, no, at least not with "you" still being "you". Maybe we'll see some advances in this field some day so we actually may have a teleporter that IS a teleporter...

    Is Teleportation Really Possible?

I'm not convinced that the "new you" that is created is actually.. you when using the method mentioned previously in the post (store all the information about the atoms' position, rotation, and everything then send the information over to the receiver which recreates you). Let's take this...

Graduate Gamma Ray Bursters: Explaining the Mystery 8 Billion Light Years Away

Thanks for the warm welcome, Chronos. :) I've read about one hypernova only 25 million light years away from here, in the galaxy M74. The GRB didn't hit us though. Also, I've heard about some very massive stars in our own galaxy only 5500 light years away that with a 50% or so probability...

Graduate Gamma Ray Bursters: Explaining the Mystery 8 Billion Light Years Away

From what I've read about this, a gamma ray burst approx. 6000 light years from Earth that points in our direction may annihilate most or all the life on Earth. But 8 billion light years away, no, it can't harm us. :)
