Other Leaving Astrophysics for Econ/Math
Nothing exciting, I don't think. I am leaning toward finance work in my uncle's business and learning to start my own. I have also considering switching to robots engineering. I contacted the engineering department adviser and am awaiting a response.- zsyed94

Other Leaving Astrophysics for Econ/Math
One of my finals is in an hour; if I don't take it, then I can switch. If I do, can't switch. I like some of the concepts I learned in my economics classes, just not in comparison to physics. I also didn't find it challenging so I was pretty bored, but I think to get around this I can...- zsyed94

Other Leaving Astrophysics for Econ/Math
I have a large portion of the math classes already completed, and am a lot better at math than I am at physics. I don't have as many econ classes completed, but I've asked a lot of my friends in the major and they say it's interesting and not nearly as time-consuming.- zsyed94

Other Leaving Astrophysics for Econ/Math
Hi all, I've posted about switching majors before; as of today, that decision has come to a head. I love physics, but struggled in my courses quite a bit just to end up with a 3.0 major GPA (I am in my third year). Last week, I started treatment for severe clinical depression/ADD, a week before...- zsyed94

Change in Radius of star during core contraction
Homework Statement We can make a rough estimate of how much the envelope of a red giant should expand as a result of the contraction of its core based on conservation of energy. We will consider a star of mass M and initial radius R, with a core of mass Mc and radius Rc. We will focus on the...- zsyed94

Bachelor's in Astrophysics Career Prospects
The closest my school offers to aerospace is robotics, which isn't too exciting. I'm still passionate about astro, I'm just finding that I'm not as cut out for it as I need to be. I suppose a better question for my situation is, if I don't pursue grad school right after my undergraduate degree...- zsyed94

Bachelor's in Astrophysics Career Prospects
Hi all, I'm a third year astrophysics major, having transferred to my current school from community college. Long story short, my dream job was to be a professor in the field (difficult enough as is), but I've found my physical/mental health won't survive all that schooling, and I want to...- zsyed94

Which UC for Physics/Astrophysics?
Hi everyone. I am pursuing a career in astrophysics research and was accepted into UCSB and UCSC as a transfer student. I am leaning towards entering the UCSC astrophysics program, but am also considering going into UCSB as a physics major and doing minor work on astrophysics. Are both options...- zsyed94

Future in Physics? A Student's Questions
Sorry for the long post, but I'm in a tricky situation and have a lot of questions. I am a community college student who wants a career in astrophysics. My end goal is to contribute to scientific knowledge doing research, but my focus is on being a popularizer of science, teaching in some way to...- zsyed94
