Could capacitors function as antennas?
Patch antennas work with spacings in the millimeter range. It uses a different radiation mechanism however.- ZVdP

Graduate Can All Subnumbers of a Number Be Prime?
If you didn't find any canditate with n digits, you cannot find a canditate with n+1 or more digits either. I quickly tried all combinations by hand (there aren't that many possible combinations) until all paths ended at 4 digits, but perhaps micromass has a more elegant way of producing these...- ZVdP

Graduate Can All Subnumbers of a Number Be Prime?
You can add 2 as well, but 2 and 5 can only occur as the leading digit. You can eliminate extra numbers by considering that you can't have repeating digits, otherwise you would get a subnumber divisible by 11.- ZVdP

Graduate Can All Subnumbers of a Number Be Prime?
Would this be a 4 digit number? If it's correct, I'll leave the counting to someone else.- ZVdP

Graduate Can All Subnumbers of a Number Be Prime?
I got 373. The other possible 3 digit numbers that are larger would be 537 573 737 But they are all composite. Going to 4 digits leads to 3737, which is composite.- ZVdP

News BREXIT - more good than bad or more bad than good?
But it's what they sell to the people. The original post was about a push to the right. I think that if you question the people that voted leave, you will find a reasonable portion of them will be quite left leaning regarding to welfare for the working class (after applying a nationalistic...- ZVdP

News BREXIT - more good than bad or more bad than good?
I think it's getting quite off topic, but look at the VB election program on their website: increasing pensions, improve social housing, improve healthcare and waiting lists, reduce costs of retirement homes, reduce poverty with maximum billing, ... A part of the appeal of leaving seemed to be...- ZVdP

News BREXIT - more good than bad or more bad than good?
I was a hyperbole of course (referencing how some call Obama a communist), but if you focus on their economic and social programs (which typically isn't much I have to admit) it's quite socialistic, because that's what their voters like to hear; more government spending on them (less on their...- ZVdP

News BREXIT - more good than bad or more bad than good?
I wouldn't necessarily classify the stereotypical (which I mention so that it's clear that I don't think everyone can be described as this) leave-voter as right wing. If you look at the extreme right, Eurosceptic parties in Europe, they are right in 1 aspect only; immigration. For all other...- ZVdP

News What is the recent tribute song released for the Orlando nightclub shooting?
And this is exactly the kind of statement why most of the time I can't take PC complaints seriously; disagreeing with your quite general statement isn't necessarily a sign of political correctness and doesn't lead to suppression of discussion. The only thing I would disagree with in Isaac0427's...- ZVdP

How Many Countries Can You Name in a Quiz Challenge?
196/196 with 6:56 to spare. But I must confess that I have practised this a couple of months ago on Sporcle without map and without alphabetical list to remind you of those pesky Caribbean or Pacific islands you accidentally skipped. For those that want to practice capitals as well (4:30 left...- ZVdP

Kid Didn't Discover Lost Mayan City via Astronomy After All
How could you guess :) The comments are indeed funny, up to a certain point, after which it sometimes actually becomes scary. The articles about the average income levels are always hilarious though, half of the reactions are 'this is rubbish, I don't earn that much'.- ZVdP

Kid Didn't Discover Lost Mayan City via Astronomy After All
The online version of one of the lower quality (but very popular nevertheless) newspapers in Belgium was also quick to post the article yesterday. However, they did publish an updated article which said that it may not be true after all. Oh boy. The site allows people to write comments... Many...- ZVdP
