Clone ships with brain-taping to colonize other planets, part 2

A prediction of mine from 2022 has come true:
It would not surprise me if the first successful information brain-transfer occurs before the first practical fusion reactor.



This was in the context of interstellar colonization. I think that braintaping trained humans, and making clones of them would be more viable than trying to create a biosphere full of active humans that could last for tens of thousands of years on a trip to a habitable planet. Scientists have now achieved this on a small scale.

My proposal did not involve being able to animate the brain in virtual space, as these scientists have done. But it does involve being able to reverse the brain taping process - being able to clone a human body, complete with the experiences, training, and knowledge of someone on Earth.

A braintaping ship would be completely dormant during travel, and also for the thousands of years it might take to terraform a planet into something with air humans could breathe. No chance of anyone dying in space. The original humans live out their lives on Earth. The human clones would not be regenerated until a habitable planet was ready for them.

Land on the planet and use the water from there to grow bodies. It would be a huge savings in mass of the spaceship, not having life support and so forth. The cargo can tolerate more acceleration and is easier to shield from radiation. You don't even have to have a hull that can withstand pressure. As long as you are doing that, grow a body adapted to that planet's biosphere. That would be much easier than adapting the biosphere to human needs.

I once thought of working out technology of 25,253 years in the future. I liked the idea that things could be grown instead of built/manufactured. Just plant a seed in the ground and grow a house.

Yes. The first thing to come from the ships would be seeds of various types. Microorganisms from Earth. Then progressively more complex plants and then animals, as the world gains an oxygen atmosphere and becomes more Earthlike.

A planet that already has thriving macroscopic life would probably be a poor choice for terraforming. So I'm assuming that an ideal world would be one like Earth was maybe two billion years ago.

Trying to adapt human forms to some other atmosphere (Pure nitrogen atmosphere, would be likely, given Earth's history.) would be very risky, since in that case we are having machines try to design something that has never existed before. It would be necessary to train the human's immune systems to whatever evolves on the new planet. But I don't think fundamental changes in our biology would be nessisary for that.
Also, remember that there is no rush. Adding life to a planet would inevitably change whatever conditions the probes find, so waiting to see what those conditions are would be a good idea.
