Tranquil

The picture must reflect the meaning or spirit of that word.

Contest Rules:

1. Any digital photo or digitally-scanned photo relevant to the theme will be accepted within the contest period. In case there's a grey area, or you're not sure if the picture is suitable, check with me first.

2. Please resize your digital photo to no more than 650 x 490 or 490 x 650 pixels. You may also crop your picture if you wish. But other than that, any form of picture editing or modification is not allowed. This is a photo contest, not a picture editing/special effect contest. You may add a watermark or your name/nickname to the photo for identification purposes.

3. Upload your photos to any of the photo servers such as imageshack. Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how.

4. Only ONE picture per member per contest.

5. At the end of the contest period, I will open a poll and every PF member can vote for the picture they like best.

6. Note that in case we have a large number of entries, I will do the polling in more than one thread. If that's the case, you can vote in each of the polling threads. The photos will be assigned in the the polling threads in the order they were submitted.

7. These pictures must be something that you took, not something taken off someone else's photo albums or taken by someone else. I have no way of checking if you did this, so we'll go by the honor system.

8. You can use a picture only once. Once it is used in a contest, it cannot be reused in another contest.

9. Please post only pictures meant for submission in this thread.

Tranquil? QyxoLLiaN death rays boiling a lake? What about the fish and the frogs and the insect life, not to mention the beavers (with whom the QyxoLLians have a HUGE grudge because of the beavers' tendency to hoard water)? That's what they did to Venus, you know ... used to be a nice place.

Don't be sad! At least they hadn't torched the pretty trees yet (Stage 2, after the water is gone and the leaves are dry enough to fuel an incendiary conflagration). Oh my gosh! Is that a hapless beaver out there at 1 o'clock? Oh the castorality, the castorality...!

My pardons! I couldn't smell him from here and those two are so hard to visually discriminate at a distance if they are not head-on. The Earth would have been devastated in first attack if not for the dedication of various denizons. We owe them our gratitude.

The Maori have incorporated their tactics, but they can't hope to approach the effectiveness of the originals.

This was taken on a hike last winter. I have never experienced such complete silence and tranquility. No wind, no cars/trucks, no other people, and no animals other then a few small birds. The wet snow muffles every sound and prevents even the slightest stir of trees and tree branches. It was unreal.

One can also get a lot of tranquility in the city - just have to do it early in the morning.

Greg needs to read the Photo Contest rules! Only one picture, Greg. Just one. Extra pictures cannot be in this thread. Moonbear has created the "Disqualified" thread for these extra ones.

Can't you just pick one and delete the other two? All 3 of them sort of qualify for this contest theme. I have a large enough of a theme list that any of them might qualify later on.

Nice photos Greg. Pick one and join the contest!
I like the first one the best. The second one looks like it is cold.

A reminder that you have barely 2 days left to submit a picture for this contest.

I chose this one because it was one of those perfectly calm days, not even the leaves on the trees were moving.
