In summary, the conversation revolves around finding the value of 24 minutes in hours. The first calculation suggests that 24 minutes is equal to 0.4 hours, while the second calculation suggests it is equal to 0.48 hours. The individual believes the second calculation is false and is confused about the significant change in the result. However, it is pointed out that the error was in rounding down the value for 1/60, which resulted in an incorrect calculation. The conversation ends with gratitude towards those who helped clarify the mistake.

well i was wondering which of these are true and why so please help me out
24min=?h
1 min= 1/60h
.'. 24 * 1/60 =24/60 =0.4

or

1 min=1/60h
1/60=0.016161616
~0.02 (i took what is close to it)
24 * 0.02=0.48

i myself think that the second one is false but y does the number change so much??where did i go wrong?

You seem to have miscalculated the value for [tex]\frac{1}{60}[/tex].

[tex]\frac{1}{60} = 0.01666 ... [/tex]

Still, it's fairly obvious where the 'error' is coming from. You've rounded the number you are multiplying by. Also as fedaykin said, you got the value for 1/60 wrong.

I suspect that it's just the 'D'OH!' moment, I have them all the time.
