My favourite cakes are strong flavoured, ginger, chocolate, and heavy, none of your fairy cakes for me, and i do not like marzipan , icing, cream or jam in or on cakes.
Another of my favorites is a solid fruit cake, so anyone have some recipes?
PS, i like using molasses in cakes.

My mum always makes a be-ro christmas cake. Its the best fruit cake I've tasted. Of course you don't have to ice it.

I'm partial to cream cakes, but like you I'm not fond of icing or marzipan.

Looks a bit like a Jamaican ginger cake.
 


I made the treacle cake, i manged to singe it a bit but it is rather nice.
