How did you find PF?
I was searching a question about 2 PhDs, one in math, one in Physics
Hello all,
I am both a mathematician and a physicist. I have two PhDs and joined because I read answers to the question about whether or not it is possible. It is.

Some...okay many people ask why I did it. It was truly because I needed a career change. You see, I finished a PhD in mathematics (applied mathematics) with the hope that I could use my math skills to help in the world of image and data analysis. It was a dead end for me. There were no postdocs for me, no careers in industry for me...yes I applied to them all. But, that was not my path. So...I taught at a couple colleges for abotu 6 years. I hated it it because most students and administrators at these two institutions do not believe women know what they are talking about when it comes to scientific discourse. So...I went back to school.

I now hold a second PhD in Physics. Again, I hope that with my skills in experimental and theoretical (yes I did both for my PhD) along side my math skills, I can help the world. So, that's what I'm off to do.

I'm heading into the world of medicine...but no I will not be getting another degree. I hated being in school the second time, but I did it because it was necessary to make this switch. I'm happy I did...more happy it's done.

I just wanted to be able to contribute to that conversation. The funny thing is that people ask what it feels like to have 2 PhDs. The answer...nothing really feels different. I just have an opportunity to help others now and so I will. I just want to do something good for this world and now I can.
