SUMMARY
LISA Pathfinder is a preliminary test satellite designed to validate the feasibility of the LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna) project, aimed at directly detecting gravitational waves. Scheduled for launch on December 2, 2015, LISA Pathfinder will pave the way for LISA's full deployment in 2034. While Earth-based detectors are expected to identify numerous gravitational wave sources by then, LISA will operate effectively at lower frequencies, enhancing our observational capabilities over the next two decades.
