I had to go with alex_caps.
 
I'm having a tough time deciding between Janus and Alex Caps. The former seems more like something I'd like to frame and hang on my wall, while the latter has such a crisp, sharp shadow that's really impressive.
 
alex_caps' picture fits the contest title perfectly, IMHO. :)

I have to really think about this one. Which isn't to say that I haven't had to really think about other PF photo contests, but I'm really torn. There's something compelling about the sheer density of shadow as contrasted with the sheer density of foliage in hypnagogue's. Task's is neat because it takes some thinking to figure out and is complex even though very stark. Same for Janus with the blend of complexity and simplicity; it's very cool, particularly for capturing the glass so well. But, but goose! And alex_caps. I may have to come back to this.
