Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the high scores achieved in the Chrome Dinosaur Game, which appears when there is no internet connection. Participants share their experiences, scores, and opinions on the game's accessibility and variations.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants inquire about the highest scores achieved in the game, emphasizing that scores obtained using AI or bots should not count.
  • One participant expresses unfamiliarity with the game, suggesting that not everyone has the same experience with internet connectivity.
  • Another participant asserts that the game appears on all computers when there is no internet, providing a link to access it directly.
  • Concerns are raised about the completeness of the game on alternative platforms, noting that certain features like day-night transitions are missing, which may affect gameplay difficulty.
  • Scores of nearly 9,000 are mentioned, with one participant speculating that this could place them in the top ten high scores.
  • A question is posed about playing Sudoku offline in a browser, with a participant confirming that it is possible to continue playing after disconnecting from the internet.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the familiarity with the game, as some claim it is universally known while others disagree. There are also differing views on the accessibility of the game across different browsers.

Contextual Notes

Some participants express assumptions about the game's availability based on their personal experiences, which may not apply universally. The discussion includes varying levels of familiarity with the game and its features.

We all* are familiar with the dinosaur game that pops us when the computer cannot connect to the internet. What is the highest score that you have achieved?

Note that if you play the game using AI or a pre-programmed bot, that will not qualify here.

Edit: *assuming you are using Google Chrome.

It doesn't replicate the original chrome dino completely. Day-night transitions are not implemented there, making it much easier to play.

I have no idea what you are talking about, so we are NOT "all" familiar with it. I sometimes cannot connect to the internet and I still have no idea what you are talking about. You must have a particular configuration on your computer and for some reason you think everyone has it.

Every computer that I have used till now: at school, at home (laptop and desktop) and at college (running Linux) have the dinosaur game popping up in Chrome when you have no internet.

You can access the game by going to chrome://dino

Ah. Well not everyone uses Chrome. Perhaps you were not aware of that.

Once I load that website, I can disconnect from the internet and continue playing. I can restart the game too, but cannot request a new game.
