Why do prisms produce sharper images in periscopes compared to mirrors?

In summary, prisms produce sharper images in periscopes compared to mirrors because they are able to reflect and refract light at different angles, resulting in a more precise and focused image. This is due to the way light travels through the prism, allowing for a more accurate and undistorted view. Mirrors, on the other hand, can cause distortion and blurring of the image due to their flat reflective surface. This makes prisms a preferred choice for periscopes, which require clear and accurate images for their intended use.
