Discussion Overview

This thread discusses participants' heights in meters, comparing responses to a previous poll that used imperial units. The conversation includes humorous exchanges, conversion challenges, and playful banter about height and related topics.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants report their heights as 2.0m, while others provide different measurements, such as 1.83m and 1.575m.
  • There are comments on the popularity of the metric version of the poll compared to the imperial version, with some expressing surprise at the distribution of responses.
  • Participants joke about potential errors in conversion from feet and inches to meters, with some admitting to mistakes.
  • Humorous references are made to the absurdity of height claims, including one participant joking about being 780 potrzebies tall.
  • There are playful remarks about the implications of having a 2.0 meter appendage and related humorous threads that could follow.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally share their heights but express uncertainty regarding conversions and the accuracy of reported heights. There is no consensus on the validity of the height claims, and the discussion remains light-hearted and humorous.

Contextual Notes

Some participants note the difficulty of converting between measurement systems, and there are references to unconventional units like "potrzebies" and "millihelens," which may not be universally understood.

Because some of us don't measure fuel efficiency in hogsheads to the rod.

You got it!

2.0m for me, unless I screwed up the conversion.

1 inch = 2.54 cm
(1 foot = 12 inches)
I am quite surprised that this metric version of this poll is much less popular than the other version

Ah...anonymity seems to be providing a more normal looking distribution. 1.575 m for me (yep, I'm that one short person in the poll ).

That's because the tallest people replied only in this poll. There was no one taller than 1.95 meters in the other poll.

(I'm sure that's the reason. The only other alternative would be embarrassing.)

Something tells me we have a few members who should either be playing on pro-basketball teams, or who have a bit of a problem with the conversion from feet and inches to meters.

Alright, alright, stop harassing my sorry ass :-p

I screwed up the conversion, I am one of the 2.0m tall pf members

Erase one of the 2.0m and add one to the 1.8m please

I'm guessing that was The Professional. If a person can't do the simple conversion from Roman palms to American feet and inches, they probably haven't mastered the metric system either.

My actual height is 780 potrzebies, so it's hard for me to do the conversions, as well. One potrzebie is equal to the thickness of a Mad magazine.

While I'm not extremely tall, I do possesses 1.38 millihelens of beauty and only possesses 3.26 HP (hobo power) of odor about me. I'm also a kilowarhol.

Healthier diet. Back in my Old Milwaukee and Pace Picante sauce days, I could make my dog cry. Making a dog cry is somewhere around 75 on the hobo power scale (with 50 HP being the puking point and 100 HP being possible in theory only - well above fatal).
