linear accelerator and laser

does somebody knows how a linear acccelerator works or know any website about the accelerators.
and how much it costs to built a cheap home made laser.

Linacs mainly use cavity resonanators surrounding a beam pipe, and use electromagnetic induction to accelerate charged particles, usually electrons.

The best way to build a laser is to simply buy a semiconductor diode laser, which costs probably something like 50 cents.
