Electric Field: Other than Middle & Infinity?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The electric field is not zero at points other than the midpoint between two similar polarity charges or at infinity. The discussion confirms that without shielding, the electric field remains non-zero in the vicinity of similar charges. It emphasizes that the electric field can only reach zero at specific points, which are typically located along the line connecting the charges, but not in between them or at any arbitrary location.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electric field concepts
  • Knowledge of Coulomb's Law
  • Familiarity with charge polarity
  • Basic principles of electrostatics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the concept of electric field lines and their behavior around similar charges
  • Study the effects of shielding on electric fields
  • Explore the mathematical derivation of electric fields from point charges
  • Learn about equipotential surfaces in electrostatics
USEFUL FOR

Students of physics, electrical engineers, and anyone interested in understanding electrostatic principles and electric field behavior around charges.

is the electric field zero at points other than the middle of two simillar polarity charges and also other than infinity?
if it can be zero then at what points?
