In general
Until your immunes system clears the virus or the virus kills you.
In some cases it can take years for the virus to kill you, in the meantime you can infect others.
In other cases the virus can hide in cells, so while it may not be in the circulatory system, it is still in your body and you will probably have recurrences of active infection.
