We should set have some PC game competitions among interested PF members. We can use this threat to pick servers, times, games, etc.

Potential games can be the Quakes, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Battlefield 1942, the Unreal Tournaments, Half-life, or whatever you want to play.

Pong would be kind of hard over the net, because ultra-low pings would be necessary, I would think.

It's great that there are already two people interested in a game. You guys should talk to each other to set up a playing time. How many people does that game support.

Sadly, I don't have any of the games you guys mentioned. I'm an FPS fan myself. Anybody interested in UT2k4 demo, Quake 3, or BF1942?

MTW can support up to 8 people in a battle but you all need high speed connections for it to work successfully.

I like the original Unreal Tournament. Or i would like to see what Aliens vs. Predator 2 would be like on multiplayer.

I'm down for a game of UT. AvP 2 is awesome in MP, though I don't have the game. I enjoy being an Alien (Xenomorph).

I play Call of Duty right now, and im usually on during the weekends (same name as here). CoD has some very addictive multiplayer action.

Other than CoD that I actively play, I do have Unreal Tournament, UT2003, and MTW.

Why the orginal unreal tournament? Why not the lastest one? We can also play Enemy Territory. They are both compatible with windows, macs, and linux. ET is completely free so anyone can download it. Unreal Tournament 2004 has a demo that has plenty of levels.

agreed. Though I can play UT easily on my computer my 56k (which runs at sub 28.8k in reality) can hardly keep up. Or can it? :confused: maybe it can. What server?

We can play 2k4 at 7:30 and the original at 9:00 on Thursday, if that's all right with everyone. Maybe in 2k4 we can play Bombing Run (sort of like a sport) or Onslaught (sort of Battlefield-ish with different control points that you have to capture). In the original UT, we can play DM or Team DM.

I think im good to go for the original UT. Downloading the v436 patch right now and refining my fps skills. Still rather rusty. Hope I dont lag with my 56k modem (which runs at 28.8kb argh).

None of these graphics cards are the "way to go" because you end up switching hardware every year if you want to keep up.. Its much cheaper to have someone, Net cafe, friend, somewhere, that can support massive amounts of good computeres with the latest stuff and you cna game there... Hardware is not a profiting buisness as I seen someone selling their GF4400 for $20...

I think all these cards are "overpriced" anyways and after you buy it 2 months later your at the end of the road with your dated hardware once again...

Agreed. I have an ATI Radeon 8500 LE and it is still pushing out graphics even for complex games like Unreal 2. My next card will definitly be ATI (only when my trusty 8500 quits out).

Unfortunately in an online match in UT last night I was horribly lagging by around 3-5 seconds. Couldnt get a kill, ended up -2 to 10. Ping was up in the 2000 range... not good.

Blegh. I give up. Everytime I try to log on im stuck with having to download a huge map file (which never completes and I have to reset it) or SkeletalChars (what in the world does this file do anyway?). Catch me later when there is a regular server with standard maps and mutators.

I am finding not the sever, the server is empty or the server has people but nobody from pf. We have to find an easier way to play. Does anybody has gamspy arcade? That migth be the way.

Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday. If anyone is interested i'm going to setup an Enemy Territory or UT2004 server on my linux box. Tell me which game you want to play and I'll set something up. I want to test the server at 6:00pm eastern and start the official game around 7:00-7:30pm.
