(This is a bizarre question). A razor is better, at its peak after about 4 shaves.

Takes some getting used and perfecting your technique, but the electric shaver can do good work. I prefer going to a parlor where nubile wenches pluck the whiskers individually. :tongue:

I only use razor blades, those cheap disposables ones and the secret on how to shave with one for at least 2 months or more is; - only to shave in bathroom right after you take hot shower so your skin is nice and soft.
This way sometimes I go on one blade for months (record 6 about months).
By the way Gillette blade are ****ing expensive. Maybe I'm gonna have to switch to electric razors soon, or grow beard.

My vote goes to electric shaver. I've cut myself too many times with those disposable razors because i'm in a rush.

Occasionally, when I have forgotten to shave (Norelco triple-header) during the day, my girlfriend will grudgingly offer to shave (disposable razor) me. How many shaves can I get out of my girlfriend before she nicks me?

Isn't there a he-she conflict between shaving legs and face that goes back to the original discovery of the razor clam? (I'm 45 and never really used a disposable.)

In order of preference:

1. Nubile wenches plucking the whiskers out one by one.

2. Not shaving (means it's a weekend).

3. A manual twin-bladed razor with the little pivot or shock absorber thing that gives a little flex.

4. An electric razor (that still has sharp blades - they do need sharpening from time to time).

5. A manual twin-bladed razor with a dull blade.

6. A straight razor.

7. A sharp knife.

8. An old electric razor with dull blades (kind of like pulling the whiskers out one by one, but without the nubile wenches).

9. Duct tape (it really does have 1001 uses).

10. One of those damn cheap Bic disposable razors from McDonald's (someone actually gave me a huge 8 cubic foot box of those things from a promotion that never really took off).

Razors are definately better. I only use electric for trimming up my burns and chin.

Yeah you gotta hate buying replacement heads. I have a manual 3 bladed razor, which is cool. I would be very afraid if someone offered to shave me with a cut-throat razor. Give me nubile wenches any day!

My brother did a test for xxxxxxxx where he was given a 5-bladed razor. He said it was awesome. No matter how hard he tried he couldnt cut himself.

Okay, you're all dying to say it (okay, not everyone, but those of you who have lived with women), and I know you're afraid of the wrath of the women on the board if you do, so I'll say it for you...an electric shaver is better if you live with a woman prone to stealing your disposable blade razor to shave her legs. I guess it's that legs have more hair than faces, because men's beard hair always seems much coarser than women's leg hair, but men seem to get very grouchy about leg shaving ruining their razors. :biggrin:

you guys remember simpson episode, when Homer was showing Bart how to shave? Homer must have had cut his face few times with his old razor and then he splashed his face with aftershave.. OUCH that hurts!

Anybody tried that new Mach 3 M3 Power? I use the Mach 3 Turbo and that works quite well. I only shave about twice a week (I do hate shaving, now). I heard the battery powered M3 was pretty good, but I never tried it.

After complimenting Boulderhead for his obvious selection for #1, I think you've done an excellent job there prioritizing the choices. Myself . . . I find those cheap disposables hurt. I love my Gillette Sensor double blade first, and my Braun electric when I'm in a hurry.

I always use a blade - far better.

Mind you, it is getting ridiculous isn't it? First one blade did, then twin-blade razors, now if your razor has less than 3 blades you are apparently missing out! What next? 4 blades, 5, 6?!

I don't get that they have face creams to get rid of the hair and on the package it says that it should not be used on men's faces. I don't really understand that.

tumor, i use a gillete and for only $14, and $2.79 for 4 more blades, i'm still on the originals that came with it and i,v shaved often and for a few months

My experience with fancy 3-4 blade gillete razors is rather bad.I switched n ow to the cheap BIC disposable ones and I can go on one for a 3 months( of course only after taking hot shower so my skin gets soft).

Electric razor is a faster shave, but not as close as disposable, (or as dangerous as straight razor or double edge).

It takes a few days to train your face to an electric. Also, try not to skip days.

For some reason, shaving first thing in the morning is easier with an electric than if I've been up for a while. Not quite sure why.

And one other point not raised yet: which one uses more energy (electric verses disposable)? I think it depends on if you use hot water or cold while shaving, although I never did the calculations to verify it.

No idea...I don't use any face creams or potions. I'm pretty low maintenance and can't figure out the necessity of that stuff. Once in a while, in winter when the air is very dry, I'll slap on a little moisturizer, but usually it just means it's time to turn on the humidifier.

In winter I only use some vaseline on my face.Two bucks worth of vaseline last me a year or more. :cool:
